About John J. Castaneda

John Castaneda has briefed and argued many cases before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, various Circuit Courts and the Appellate Court of Illinois.

Mr. Castaneda was born in Sterling, Illinois on May 18, 1961. He received his Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree from Loyola University of Illinois in 1983. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota in 1986 where he also served as a staff member of the Law and Inequality Journal. Mr. Castaneda was admitted to the bar in 1987 in Illinois and to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1995.

Mr. Castaneda was a former President and Director of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association and is currently the newsletter editor. He served as the first Hispanic President of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and Mr. Castaneda has been selected as an Illinois Super Lawyer. In addition, Mr. Castaneda is AV® (very high to preeminent) rated in Martindale-Hubbell for both legal ability and professional ethics.
