About Richard E. Aleksy
Recognized as a preeminent trial attorney, Richard Aleksy has briefed and argued many cases before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission, various Circuit Courts, the Appellate and Supreme Court of Illinois. He has earned an enviable reputation within the legal and insurance communities for his work involving workers’ compensation, disability determination and related aspects of injury law. Mr. Aleksy has 36 years of experience handling Illinois workers compensation claims. On July 20, 2011, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn named Richard Aleksy to be one of only twelve members of the Illinois Workers' Compensation Advisory Board.
A respected leader in his field of legal practice, Mr. Aleksy has served as president and director of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association, and is an active member of the organization today. He is also a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. Among his many other professional involvements, he has authored “IICLE Mastering Workers’ Compensation in Illinois; The Process, The Procedure,” and he has participated in numerous seminars as a presenter and member of panel discussions.
His recognition within the legal community includes selection as an Illinois Super Lawyer, described by the publisher as “a listing of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.” Mr. Aleksy has also been listed in Best Lawyers in America, "the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession." In addition, Mr. Aleksy is rated AV® (very high to preeminent) for both legal ability and professional ethics by Martindale-Hubbell, “the authoritative resource for information on the worldwide legal profession.”
After serving four years in the Air Force, Mr. Aleksy earned his Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, and received his Juris doctorate from the John Marshall Law School. He was admitted to the Illinois bar and the Federal Court in the Northern District of Illinois in 1976.
